Essential Information

Long Term Care Law

A long term care benefit is granted to those who reached retirement age (62 years for women and 67 for men), who live in their own home or in "diur mugan" (except care homes), and need assistance from another person in performing daily activities, as well as to people requiring a supervision at home for the sake of their own safety and the safety of their family. The purpose of the benefit is to help the elderly and family members to take care of him or her.

The main task of a caregiver (Hebrew - metapel/metapelet)  is to help the elderly to cope exactly with those everyday routine actions that he or she is unable to perform on his own. Thus, the elderly is granted a higher quality of life and peace of mind for his family members. The tasks of a caregiver are defined in each case individually, but there are some common rules.

If your dad's or mom's condition has deteriorated so much that leaving him or her at home alone is dangerous, even for a short time, you have to hire a 24/7 caregiver. But first you have to obtain a permit for foreign caregiver.  The employees of LACOL company will consult you how to obtain this permit.
